After a long time I must say a movie which I couldn’t stop myself from expressing my personal views. For all Forrest Gump lovers who have seen the movie let me tell you I am not going to write about the story in this blog of mine. For all those who have not seen Forrest Gump, please go and watch Laal Singh Chaddha and experience the simplicity, purity of this character on whom the story revolves and yes also do watch the original Tom Hanks one without fail. Better Late Than Never!
25 years back If you asked me about my favourite actor I would say it was Aamir Khan and Tom Hanks and if you asked me the same question today they are still my favourites. I also felt lot of commonalities between the 2 actors with respect to experimenting and exploring different roles, stories. Both get into the character and can go to any extent to do justice to the story. They are every directors delight. Be it Philadelphia, Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, You’ve Got Mail, Cast Away, The Green Mile, Captain Phillip, The Terminal or be it QSQT, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander, Andaz Apna Apna, Sarfarosh, 1947 earth, Lagaan, Dil Chahta Hai, Taare Zameen Par, 3 idiots….the list of both these greats are endless.
Aamir has never done a remake and when this news broke out it was a treat for a fan like me. While the two coming together is next to impossible but the two playing the same character was like a wow factor and pleasant to watch. We all know what a super duper hit Forrest was and Laal Singh will definitely not disappoint you. The entire unit of Laal Singh have ensured that they have kept intact the essence, serenity and originality of the movie. They also claim openly of this being a remake and Indian adaptation screenplay by Atul Kulkarni is worth appreciating; he has beautifully blended the incidents that occurred in India.
I would like to make a special mention of the direction which is very very close to the original and genius work of replicating. The background score by Tanuj Tiku is brilliant. The location, costumes, backdrops are breath taking. The character of the lady Arya Sharma who listens to the story of Laal, has also beautifully reacted and acted to the story narration. Naga Chaitanya who plays Bala (character of our favourite Bubba) is also excellent. Every actor/actress have done their part very well which makes this movie worth watching.
While Aamir has earned lot of honour; this one I must say is another (white) feather in the feet of Aamir, they say white feather is like an angel and signifies loved ones are watching over you.

Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get!
